At Rapid Med, we are committed to providing excellent services for our patients, including local testing services for patients who have symptoms of this illness.
Medical Services for Coronavirus
While it is important to seek medical care if you suspect that you have Coronavirus, it is just as important to avoid community spread of the illness.
If you believe that you should be tested for Coronavirus, then our team provides easy access to top-notch testing services.
Important: Please call us first to discuss your symptoms and condition, then we will direct you to follow the next steps if a test is needed. Patients should not visit an urgent care center without calling first for an evaluation over the phone.
Our team of board-certified doctors and nurses provides “On-Demand” medical services, giving you the option to talk to an expert without the need to leave your home.
Do You Need Coronavirus Testing?
Coronavirus testing is recommended for patients based on the following guidelines:
- You have a high fever, cough, and/or difficulty breathing.
- You have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
- You have recently traveled to a location with many confirmed cases of Coronavirus.
If the symptoms are minor, then a phone consultation and standard testing procedure can be followed, as recommended by your doctor. Patients who develop emergency symptoms related to COVID-19 should seek immediate medical attention by calling 911 or visiting the nearest ER.
Emergency warning signs for Coronavirus COVID-19 include:
- Persistent pressure or pain in the chest
- Trouble breathing
- Inability to arouse
- Bluish coloring on the face or lips
Symptoms can vary from patient to patient, which is why it is best to consult your doctor if you have any other symptoms that are concerning or severe.
Patients over the age of 60 and people with pre-existing health conditions are at the highest risk for complications from Coronavirus.
How the Coronavirus Test Works
All tests offered by public health departments and medical providers are Real-Time Reverse Transcriptase (RT)-PCR Diagnostic Panels, which means that results are typically available within 4 – 6 hours. Decisions about testing are determined by the state and local health departments, based on the symptoms of the patients.
The test requires a sample collection using a long stick with a Q-tip swab at the end. The back of the throat is swabbed, going through both the nose and mouth to get the samples. Then, the specimen is stored in a sterile container until it can be processed.
Treatment for Coronavirus
The majority of patients with Coronavirus experience mild symptoms, so recovery can be done at home without medical interventions. Since there is no treatment currently approved for this virus, patients testing positive need to let the illness “run its course.”
Not only is rest important during recovery, but it is essential to isolate to avoid spreading the virus to other people. Testing results can be helpful so you can make an informed decision about who you can come in contact with.
