Rapid Med Stays on the Leading Edge with On Demand
For your convenience, Rapid Med Urgent Care Centers are now offering state-of-the-art On Demand web visits for certain conditions.
Telemedicine – combining medicine with the latest in technology – provides a quick avenue to physicians and physician’s assistants for common ailments. With the click of a button, you can connect with Rapid Med to receive treatment for such conditions as bronchitis, influenza, rashes, sinus infections and other similar ailments.
The staff at Rapid Med know you have a busy schedule between your home and work lives. And that doesn’t include all of the extracurricular school activities your children are involved in.
When your teen complains of a sore throat and cough or the littlest one comes home from daycare with Pink Eye, Rapid Med provides this new convenient way to get the treatment you need as soon as you need it.
Telemedicine was initially developed to provide medical assistance to those living in remote areas. Today, however, it is becoming more common as a way to help patients receive care quickly and efficiently.
In addition, if you or your loved ones are suffering with an infectious ailment such as the stomach flu or strep throat, medical treatment through the new On Demand technology allows you to stay in the comfort of your own home without having to get ready and go out to the physician’s office.
This two-way, real time interactive communication between you and the physician or physician’s assistant uses audio and video components. Patients can send photos of rashes or show them via the Facetime video camera installed on most computers and cell phones available on the market.
Telemedicine is becoming more commonly accepted in the workplace for employees to visit with Rapid Med physicians or physician’s assistants during a break. Telemedicine also allows you to quickly deal with certain medical conditions without fighting traffic or taking time off from work or school.
In Texas, you do not have to be an established patient to take advantage of this new technology at Rapid Med. Though the concept started in the 1950s as a way to share radiologic images via telephone between health care providers, smart phone technology has enabled the concept of telemedicine to expand, catering to the hectic pace of 21st century lifestyles.
Dr. John Gomez of Rapid Med is a strong believer in using the latest technology for patient care, putting Rapid Med on the leading edge of health care.
At Rapid Med, all you need to do is click on the red Sign-In Online button in the upper right hand corner or on the left side of the www.RapidMed.com website. You will then see a page offering an opportunity to schedule an appointment and wait at home until you receive texts on your phone just before your appointment. Or, select the On Demand tool to be connected directly to board certified Rapid Med physicians or physician’s assistants. The page automatically gives you an estimated waiting time until someone can connect with you – generally within minutes.
For the best results, be sure to have details about your symptoms and how long they have been occurring ready for when you make the connection with a Rapid Med physician or physician’s assistant. It will save you time and help you get the care you need as quickly as possible.
The new On Demand online visit can be used for the following conditions or symptoms:
- Cold Sores
- Pink Eye
- Sinus Infection
- Stomach Flu
- Strep Throat
- Urinary Tract Infections
- Insect Bites
- Sore Throats
Remember, On Demand is available to you via cell phone, computer or iPad as long as you have two-way video and audio connections.
